Acts 8:30-35 – 30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: 33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
There it is, right there in verse 31. I NEED SOMEONE TO GUIDE ME. People need Jesus, but many don’t even know it. It is up to us, you and me, to take Jesus to people. Someone took the time to tell me about Him and I have the responsibility to tell others about Him. Let’s do it. Let’s all be Phillip’s. We can do this. You and I are all God needs. I for one will make Him known.
Luke 11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
There it is. Forgive.
What would happen if you suddenly decided to forgive everyone who has offended you? Freedom, that’s what. My friend, if you are holding a grudge toward someone, they are in control of your every move. Forgiveness is the only thing that will set you free.
Today, right now, ask God to give you the grace to forgive. He gave Jesus to forgive your sin and you and I fall short of what He requires, yet, He forgives. Even on the cross Jesus said, Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. Stephen, when they were stoning him to death, said, Father, lay not this sin to their charge. Stephen entered into heaven with forgiveness as his lifestyle.
How about you? If you stood before Jesus today, would you enter into His presence with a heart of total forgiveness, or would you enter in with a bitter resentful heart?
You decide. Your choice.
Wouldn’t it be nice if all believers just lived a life of forgiveness. Then, just maybe, the world would be drawn to what we have. Remember, God loves you and so do I.
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Often we look at politicians and wonder if they are even from the same planet. We wonder out loud what it would be like if they could actually get along.
Guess what, it isn’t going to happen. You know what is sadder?
When the church cannot get along. Too many in the church want their way or else. Now don’t get me wrong, when it comes to the word of God, there is no my way or your way, it is just His way.
We, however, are to work with one another in the spirit of love and unity to spread the gospel to those in need of a Savior. We need to work with one another to help those in need of food and clothing and shelter, and yes, encouragement.
Let’s get this right.
We are to be strong in our faith and we are supposed to help others produce love and good works. Ask yourself these questions.
- Who have I encouraged to come along side of me and help in the work?
- Who have I encouraged with the Love of Jesus today?
- Do others see the love of Christ displayed in my life on a day-to-day basis?
- Do I use the excuse that things just are not going good for me right now as justification for be disconnected and un-engaged with the body?
Isn’t it time for His body to do what He says for us to do? Join me today in putting into practice Hebrews 10:23-24 and let’s encourage someone in their faith today. Remember God loves you and so do I.
As I get older, and I am getting older, (nearing 68), I can hardly keep up with the fast paced ever-changing world. I just ordered new I-phones for both my wife and myself because our old ones do not work so well anymore. Only 3 years old, but the technology has changed so fast. I am looking for something, anything, that is constant and I bet you are too.
Well, I do have a very constant presence in my life. Jesus,
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
and His never changing word
Psalms 119:89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
1 Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
Do you know what is crazy about our new cell phones, in a year or two they will be outdated. Yep, the technology will be such that they will not work so well and we will be looking for upgrades. Can you relate?
So, in this ever-changing world, it is a reassuring fact, that my God never changes. I do not have to look for a new one every two years. I do not need a new Bible to keep up with the times. The one I have will do me until I go to meet Jesus. The God I serve will be there in the good times and the bad times. I am so glad, that in this ever changing world, I do not have to worry about a changing God. Remember, God loves you and so do I.
James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. Shortly after 6:00 this morning, my phone rang. On the other end was the New Hanover County Sheriff’s office. They had an unexpected death. A young man, only 38 years old went to sleep last night, but did not wake up this morning. 38, way too young. Our lives are very fragile and our time here is very short, even if we live to be 100. I was reminded this morning of how important it is to be ready to meet God. We all have an appointment scheduled, but only God knows when, but mark it down, we do have that appointment. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: When is your appointment? When is mine? God does not tell us, He only tells us to be ready. If you were to die today, do you know for sure you would go to Heaven? God’s word tells us how to know and be ready. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. My friend, do you know Him? If not, why not give your heart and your life to Him today. Remember, God so loved YOU, that He gave JESUS!!
“Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.”
Psalms 37:34. Sometimes I sit back and think, boy it must be nice. I mean, seams to me that the wicked prosper while the Godly suffer. That is true. God said it would happen. So why serve this God? Because. The wicked will be cut off. The righteous will win. It is a long race to the finish, but our God will exalt us when it really counts. Wait he says. He will deliver. The wicked will perish and the godly will inherit the land. Hold on my child, joy WILL come in the morning
“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
Revelation 21:3-4 – 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Some of you who know me know that in 2004 I was diagnosed with a terminal disease. God has been good, as you can tell because in 2017 I am writing this post. I am often told by people just believe God and you will be healed. He wants you healed. Really? Then why am I still sick. I will tell you. SIN. That’s right, you read it correctly. You see, until Adam sinned, there was no sickness, no pain, no evil. Life was just perfect. Then, he sinned and a curse was put upon ALL men. The curse is called death. There is a lot of other things that happened that day as well. That will show up in some other post. Revelation 21 however, gives me hope. There is coming a day when there will be no more sickness or death or pain or any other thing that will bring suffering into the life of the believer. We will be free indeed. Free from all the things that the flesh can not protect us from. On that grand and glorious day, ALL tears will be gone forever. All death and sickness, gone for ever. All hatred and evil, gone for ever. Until then, we will keep on holding on to this great promise. If you know someone today who is hurting, don’t try to convince them that God promises that things will get better, at least not in this life. Jesus suffered pain, and hurt and betrayal, and even death. What sin did he commit? NONE. Instead, He paid the price for everyone else’ sin. Look up my fellow believer, your redemption draweth nigh.
