What does the resurrection mean to each of us? – Friday

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

His resurrection actually means the possibility of life for each of us. Sin has an eternal price. It must be paid. We either pay for it ourselves, or someone else has to pay for it. Only one person in all of human history meets the qualifications God requires.

Isaiah 53:5-6 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

There is a song written many years ago that says this: “Jesus paid it all, all to Him I own, sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.” I am a sinner and I owe a debt that I cannot pay. God will only accept two forms of payment. My eternal death or Jesus’ substitutional death. With the substitutional death, comes life. Eternal life that comes with the resurrection. Wow. You see, Jesus did not stay dead. You as a believer, will not stay dead.

II Corinthians 4:14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

I Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

One day, if Jesus does not come first, I will physically die. My body will be buried in a cemetery. Don’t worry however, I will not be dead. I will be with the Father and the Son in Heaven. Then one day, Jesus will call that body from the grave and I will be glorified and I will live forever with Jesus. Can you say the same thing?

Prayer: Father, thank you for the resurrection. I am eagerly awaiting the coming on my Lord Jesus. Help me live my life as if He could come today. Let me be used to bring others to Him. I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
