As a believer, you have been set free from the law and have been made righteous by the grace of God. Sometimes, if we are not careful, we will misuse grace. We will hog it. We will use it as an excuse to live selfish lives. Grace is not about that at all. Grace is about God forgiving you and me and sacrificing His Son for us to be brought back to Him. I often, when called out at night, want to say no. I am tired. I am finished with my day. Call someone else. Now just suppose I did what I felt like doing and then next person did what I felt like doing and so on. WHAT WOULD GET DONE AND WHO WOULD BE BLESSED AND WHO WOUL BE HELPED? NO ONE, THAT’S WHO! You see, we are all called to serve, not to have our own selfish wants supplied.
My desire (Pastor Tilly) is for Liberty to become known as the church of servants. I want us to become a people who have a heart for hurting people who have been forgotten by family, friends and sadly, even the church. But, God has not forgotten them. He needs a church that says, as Isaiah did, here am I send me.
Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Please pray and begin to ask the Lord for a servant’s heart. Wilmington needs us to be the church of the living God in action. Jesus came to serve and we are instructed to love and serve like He loved and served. How about it, will you join the family in reaching this community with the Love of God? I pray you will.
Prayer. Father, help our church to be a servant church. Let us reach out and be involved in the lives of people who have been forgotten and cast down. Let us offer a hand of encouragement and let us see lives transformed through the power of your Holy Spirit as we serve together those who need us most, I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
