Being actively involved – Wednesday

Everbody

Unfortunately, the church, like most other organizations has developed an entitlement mentality. You owe me! What can I gain from being a member? President Kennedy’s famous quote, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country” should ring loud in the church. It is not what do I get, but it should be what I can give.

Acts 2:44-45 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;  And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

The key to the early church’s success was simple.Everyone was involved! They came, they gave, they served, they prayed and they listened to God. There was an active involvement by all.

Sometimes I wonder what a church could do if 100% of the people were totally committed and involved in the work. When over half the people in the average church are occupiers, not doers, the church is hindered. The church is unable to meet the needs of everyday ministry. Our church has a huge heart for helping the needy. We have a huge heart for helping the hurting. We are a church where the word is the ultimate authority and where forgiveness and freedom from sin is taught, lived and believed. How are you involved in helping carry the load?

Our church needs workers for our children’s ministry on Sunday and Wednesday. We need people to visit those who are sick or shut-in. We need others to help carry the financial load. What are you doing? Are you involved in taking the church to others? Are you involved reaching out to those within the body who are missing or hurting? If not, why not enlist in His army of volunteers today.

In the story of the Good Samaritan, three men came by. Two saw a need, but did nothing. One saw the need and reached out to meet the need. Which one are you? Don’t be afraid. God led you to that person because God wants you to help.

Prayer: Father, help me to be faithful and lead me to that person you want my life to touch. Help me to be the church in action. Help me to be kind, and caring and helpful. Don’t let me be selfish. Use my church to change lives. Give us souls for your kingdom, I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
