Service for Sacrifice – Thursday

titus214

Charles Spurgeon said: “The discipline of grace, according to the apostle, has three results – denying, living, looking. You see the three words before you.”

  1. Denying – Ungodliness and worldly lust
  2. Living – Soberly, righteously and godly
  3. Looking – For the glorious appearing of our Savior

Romans 6:2-8 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
It would do us good, to daily remember, what Jesus did, does and is doing for us.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Jesus willingly gave himself as a substitute for sinful man.

Galatians 3:13a Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us:

Jesus bought us out of slavery to sin, and purchased us for his service.

(sin-enslaved – salvation-freed)

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

We are the instruments that God uses to lead the lost to the foot of the cross.
Amazing Grace brought us salvation, security and sanctification. That ought to make us shout!

Does serving the Lord still bring you joy?

If not ask yourself, why?

Prayer: Lord, I lay my burdens and cares at your feet. Please revive my soul and restore the joy of my salvation so that my life will be a light in the darkness.
