Anticipation – Wednesday

titus213

When my wife would spend time in Ohio caring for her mother, a day would seem like a week. I missed her. I made sure that the house stayed clean, the clothes got washed, the bills were paid and everything was in its place. I was looking forward to her return and I wanted her to be pleased. How do you think she would have felt if on her return she found the house a mess, the bills unpaid and me with another woman? Would the way I was living reflect love or a longing to be reunited? Trust me, I love my wife.

My devotion to Jesus should overshadow my love for my wife.

Luke 14:26-27 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Mark 13:24-27 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

Mark 13:32-37 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Are you looking forward to the return of Jesus?

Does your life reflect the anticipation of coming face to face with your Savior?

Prayer: Lord, help me to be faithful to my first love, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I don’t want to become complacent in my faith but I want to grow in your grace and be found faithful when Jesus returns.
