Holiness results from seeking after the right thing: – Day 5

So many seek after wealth and riches. Some so called preachers even preach that God wants you to have an excess of this world’s goods. Truth is, God is not concerned with how much you gather here, but how much you send on ahead to heaven.

Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

1. The things of this world you collect will one day ALL be gone.
2. The things of this earth can be taken away
3. Things laid up in heaven will last you an eternity.
4. What you seek after is an indication of how your heart is.

Too many Christians today are totally concerned with having it easy. They want all that this world has to offer, with little or no regard for the things of God. One day we will surely stand before our God and He will require us to give an account of how we followed the scripture.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Romans 14:11-12 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus I ask you to help me follow fully after you. May I seek after your kingdom, not my own. Help me to be faithful to you in all the areas of my life. I ask that I may influence others to follow Jesus as they see the way I live my life. Amen.

Scripture for today:

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
