THAT LOOK OF LOVE

One of my favorite songs goes like this:

The look of love was on His face
Thorns were on His head
Blood was on His scarlet robe
Stained a crimson red
Though His eyes were on the crowd
He looked ahead in time
And when He was on the cross
I was on His mind

Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

One may wonder, what does love look like? I can give no better answer then Jesus looking out from the cross and asking God the Father to forgive those who stood before Him. A look that would turn to a repentant thief hanging next to Him in His dying moments!

Can you see it? A look of compassion, a look of comfort, a look of encouragement, a look of forgiveness!

These are four looks of love. Love is full of compassion. It is full of Comfort. It is full of encouragement. It is full of forgiveness. Do you see it? If not, take a fresh look at the cross. There you will see what Love looks like.

1. This love treats like one is a brother.

1 John 2:10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

2. This love does not look for the faults.

1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

3. This love gives a lift up

Hebrews 12:12-13 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

4. This love changes situations

Acts 3:6-7 – 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

I challenge you to add these “looks” to your wardrobe. You will make the best dressed list!
