BECOME A FAMILY OF COMPASSION

1 John 3:17  But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Ever meet someone who was homeless?  What was your first response?  Can I be honest, sometimes my reaction is one of disdain.  That is not right!  We who are blessed need to learn to have compassion on those who have not been as blessed.  Some people are homeless because of laziness, but many are homeless because they have met with tragedy or some misfortune.  Our acts of kindness to complete strangers just might be what turns their life around.

  1. Compassion is the center of true religion – James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
  2. ,

  3. Compassion is what Jesus had when He saw the multitude that was in great need – Matthew 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

  4. Think of ways that you can show compassion to those in need.

  • The hungry
  • The homeless
  • The unsaved
  • Your family
  • Your friends
  • Your co-workers

Today’s verse –

1 John 3:17  But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

My prayer for Liberty is that we become a family of compassion toward each other, those outside our fellowship and those who are in need of Jesus.  Ask God to show you ways to show your compassion to those in need.
