Adopted – – Who we are in Christ

Now that we understand that salvation was not earned, it was offered and each of us had to turn to God to receive it, we should look at each other through God’s eyes.

Romans 5:10-11 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.  And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

We were once God’s enemies.

We were made right with God.

We have received a full pardon for our sins

Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

We do not practice sin anymore.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We have started a new life.
(You were once in the Devils family, now you are in God’s family.)

Ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Ephesians 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Romans 8:14-17 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

We are part of a blended family

We come from different cultures and come in different colors. We have different ideas and different personalities. Yet we have a commonality. We are all joined heirs with our Lord. We have been given the privilege to call a Holy God, our Father, and our Daddy.

1 Corinthians 2:9 – It’s beyond our earthly imagination.

John 14:1-3 and John 14:16-20 – He gives us help while we wait for that promise.

Ephesians 1:13-14 – That promise is sealed with God the Holy Spirit

1 Corinthians 15:54-57 – The grave will never hold us.

1 John 5:11-13 – We have eternal life now.

Hebrews 4:14-16 – We have an open door to our Heavenly Father.

Philippians 4:19 – He promises to supply all of our needs.

A child who welcomed into a family by adoption has the same legal rights with the family as any biological child.

We have been welcomed into God’s family. That is a privilege.

Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We are conquerors through Christ. Never forget that
