Today, we look at submission to one another.  This is an area of our walk that often is used by Satan to hinder our testimony for Jesus.

Philippians 2:3  Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem {consider} others better than themselves.

What are you doing to put others first?  Are you being selfish, self-centered, and prideful or are you being kind, caring and considerate of others?  Sometimes it is best to lose the argument in order to bring glory and honor to Jesus.  We were created by Him and we belong to Him.  Submitting to others is another way we can put Him first in our lives.

Submission on the job, at school, in the play yard, at church and in the home will lead to lives being transformed and Christians living a life of joy.

Submission in Marriage is a two way street.  Ephesians 5:21-23 – 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Here we have two different meanings of the word submit.  In the submitting one to another the term means to actually consider the needs of the other person over the needs you have.  In the submitting to the husband, it is the wife yielding to the spiritual leadership of the husband in the home much like the church is to submit to HIS spiritual leadership in our lives.  In submitting to one another the husband would be wise to consider the wives needs over his own and the same for the wife toward the husband.  In considering the spiritual leadership in the home, the husband, not the wife, is responsible to lead the family forward in the thing of Christ.  Submission is not being lorded over, but rather it is willfully giving my needs over to another.

Children need to learn submission in the form of obedience to their parents.  Colossians 3:20   Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

Children are put under the care of their parents by God’s divine plan.  Parents are to mold and shape their lives in how to live.  We as parents are to teach them to live Godly, to honor God and to serve with hearts of joy and compassion. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 –  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Help your children know and understand that they are responsible to God for how they treat others.
