The Prayer of the Watchman

Ezekiel 33:6-7 (KJV)
But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

The Prayer of the Watchman
by Melissa Blanton

You have set me as a watchman, upon the walls of life.
Professing Christ the Savior, enduring enmity and strife.
I have no time to falter, His coming’s nigh at hand.
So help me to be wary, as in your Word commands.
I know the battle’s mounting, I can hear the battle cry.
I can feel the sting of satan as his arrows start to fly.
But I cannot stop nor falter, I cannot turn to hide.
For I’m called to be a watchman and my SWORD is by my side.
There is much to do now, the walls are broken down.
The enemy is mounting, your people scattered ’round.
So help me to be vigilant, as to the task I stay.
Lifting up the fallen soldier lest by satan be led astray.
Your words are in my heart LORD, as a great and burning fire.
Compelling me to speak the truth, I must not faint nor tire.
Your Banner must be raised on high, your glory be proclaimed.
That souls awandering in the dark, may see and take your name.
May this watchman always be a compass of the TRUTH.
No matter where this journey leads, may I always look to you.
I do not ask for worldly things, but grace and strength from you.
And wisdom through thy Holy Word, that my speech will honor you.
So take me body, soul and mind, and make me wholly thine.
A servant of your precious love, proclaiming words divine.
