OK, I did it, now what!

II Samuel 12: 1-7; 13  –

 1 ¶  And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor. 2  The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds: 3  But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter. 4  And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him. 5 And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die: 6  And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity. 7  And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;

 13  And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy
sin; thou shalt not die.

So, you find yourself in the same place as David found himself.  You have sinned.  It haunts you, it follows you, you are
tormented by it day and night, NOW WHAT

Let us look at David and see how David dealt with this sin.

I.          David was a man after God’s own heart. 1 Samuel
  But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.,

II.        David was the apple of God’s eye – Psalm 17: 8 ¶  Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

III.       David knew He had Sinned – Psalms 51:3  For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

IV.       So what does this have to do with me

A.        I too sinRomans 3:10;2310  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:; 23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

B.        I too am haunted by my sin

C.        I too am delivered by HIS mercyPslam 51:1-21 ¶  Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2  Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

D.        Satan throws my sin in my face all the time – Revelation 12:10  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

E.         I too must realize, as David did, that I am delivered

1.         that means that I am free from sin – John 8:36  If the Son therefore  shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Indeed:(truly, in reality, in point of fact, as opp. to what is pretended, fictitious, false, conjectural

2.         that means that today is a new day – Psalms 68:19  Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of
our salvation. Selah.

3.         that means that I am free to live a life of joy and peace –

I Peter 1:6-8 6 ¶ Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Philippians 4:7-9 – 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.9  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

4.         that means that I belong to Him
Psalms 100:3  Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
