WHERE DID IT ALL GO
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
You may not believe this, but I am my hardest critic. I constantly battle a spirit of self condemnation. Some of you may be able to relate to that, because you too have battled condemnation in your own life. When I first realize what it meant to be able to live a life that was free of condemnation, I felt so unworthy and had a really difficult time grasping the fact that He has removed ALL condemnation from my life. All,
praise the Lord
You too can enjoy the condemnation free life style and move beyond your guilt and despair. Several years ago I preached on this chapter and
God has again drawn my attention to it. You see, Satan has been hanging round and reminded me that I am not worthy of God’s love and the has whispered again in my ear that my sin is greater than God’s ability to forgive. Humanly speaking, I would believe him. But thank God I have a great hope and I live in the realm of God’s glorious deliverance.
To fully understand this freedom that Christ has brought, let us look back at chapter seven and see why we needed HIM to remove this curse from our lives
I. We were in really bad shape
Romans 7:10-11 – 10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
A. Sin had deceived me
B. Sin had enslaved me
C. Sin had conquered me
D. I was without hope – 1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
E. My life was not worth saving – Romans 7: 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
F. Fear ruled our lives – 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a
II. We are no longer under the spirit of bondage or fear – John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed
A. All the condemnation has been removed – John 3:16-18 – 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
1. It was removed the moment I came to Christ
2. It is now (right now) ALL gone
3. I can now live in the spirit of Liberty, not the spirit of fear and bondage
II Corinthians 3:12-18 – 12 ¶ Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken
away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
